“Why Not?” Team Facilitates Social Connection

By Logan Plumb, Special Olympics and Community Integration Coordinator
As mentioned in the Spring edition of the Kaleidoscope, the “Why Not?” Initiative has been facilitating recreational and social activities between individuals served by the Union County Board of Developmental Disabilities and other community members.

The “Why Not?” Initiative has hit the ground running and facilitated a new match between Devon Peraino and John Lacivita. Both Devon and John have a great interest in archery and are meeting monthly at the local archery range - Attaboyz Archery in Marysville, Ohio.

When asked why Devon would recommend the “Why Not?” Initiative Devon stated, “The ‘Why Not?’
Initiative has given me the chance to get out of the house and have some fun. I always have a great time with John and I have learned a lot about shooting archery. John knows what he is talking about.”

John added what he enjoys most about his monthly meet ups with Devon. “I appreciate the opportunity to share the sport
of archery with Devon. He has the interest and ability, and most importantly, he seems to be having fun.”
