March 10, 2020

Dear Harold Lewis Center Families,

The health and safety of our students, staff, and families is a top priority for the Union County Board of Developmental Disabilities and Harold Lewis Center. We are carefully monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 (also known as coronavirus) and following the guidance provided by local and federal health officials.

As there are many unknowns at this point in time, we will continue to review and refine our emergency operations plans including ensuring educational continuity in the event of school closures.

As a reminder of our Health Policies/Procedures in your HLC Parent Handbook:
  • Children who have any communicable disease or condition as recommended by the Ohio Department of Health, MUST be kept home.
  • Any child or staff member with a fever of 100 degrees, vomiting, or diarrhea in the previous 24 hours is not permitted to attend school until 24 hours AFTER symptoms have resolved.
  • A child may be readmitted to the program 24 hours AFTER temperature has returned to normal without the use of fever reducing medications.
  • Any child with symptoms of a communicable disease such as fever over 100, severe coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, sore throat, etc will be isolated until the parent arrives to pick up their child.

As always, we remain committed to ensuring the health and safety of our students, staff, and families. Please be diligent about usual preventative measures like frequent hand washing, avoiding touching your face, and staying home when you feel ill. We strongly encourage you to make the best decision for your child and your family when you choose to send your child to Harold Lewis Center Preschool.

Thank you for your support and patience as we work with our local officials and partners to respond to this evolving situation.

With Warm Regards,
