Welcome Back! Health & Safety

Sue LaMendola
Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome back to school! We are excited to have your children with us for the 2021-22 school year. As we begin the school year, we want you to know that the health and safety of our students and staff are our highest priority. Guidelines from the Health Department are rapidly changing. As changes occur, we will communicate them with our families as quickly as we can.

Below are some of the steps we are taking to keep everyone in our school healthy and safe:

  • The Harold Lewis Center will follow all safety protocols including hand washing, sanitizing materials between uses, and daily cleaning in the building.
  • All employees and students should monitor their health symptoms and stay home when ill. You should be symptom free for 24 hours (without medication) to return to school.
  • Anyone riding the bus should wear a mask. There are exceptions to this Federal mandate due to the child’s needs.
  • Any employee or student that has had known contact with someone confirmed to have COVID-19, must notify the Harold Lewis Center nurse upon finding out. We will work with the Union County Health Department and follow the quarantine procedures given to us.
  • If an employee or student tests positive for COVID-19, he or she must notify the Harold Lewis Center nurse immediately. We will work with the Union County Health Department and follow the quarantine procedures given to us.
  • Those who are not vaccinated are encouraged to wear a mask while indoors.

The health and safety of our staff and students are our highest priority. Please be considerate of others, especially our immune compromised population, when considering sending your child to school. Please contact the Harold Lewis Center with any questions or concerns.
