COVID Letter 8.24.22

HLC Administration
Dear Families,

Welcome to the beginning of the 2022-23 school year at the Harold Lewis Center.

As we all know, COVID-19 is still a concern and continues to impact everyone's life. Thankfully, for most of us, that impact has lessened. We are continually reviewing and revising how we respond to COVID at the Harold Lewis Center.

The health and safety of our students and staff is our number one concern at the Harold Lewis Center. We believe students learn best in school, and it is important to keep students in the classroom as much as possible. Because of these beliefs, staff and students who test positive for COVID-19, must isolate for 5 days starting the day after a positive COVID-19 test or the day after symptoms started and may return masked for days 6-10, provided the person is fever-free for 24 hours and symptoms have improved.
For staff and students who believe they may have been exposed to a person who tested positive for COVID, staff must wear a mask for 10 days and students should wear a mask for 10 days. Contact tracing will not happen in the classroom. We understand some students are not able to wear a mask and each family has a different perspective on masking. We will work with any student whose parents want them to wear a mask and want us to work with their child.

We encourage each parent to make the best decision for their family. On any given day, there is a good chance there is a person in our Center who has either been exposed to COVID-19 and is wearing a mask or has tested positive and are out of school (student or staff) for at least five days.
We will continue to monitor this situation and make changes as necessary to maintain the health and safety of our students and staff. Also, we encourage you to make the best decision for the health and safety of your student when considering attendance at school.

Thank you for your patience with us as we continue to adapt to the changing world we live in. If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our school nurse, Kim Prior at 937-645- 6715 or the school office at 937-645-6714.
