Ohio History Center 800 E. 17th Ave, Columbus
Join the Ohio History Connection for a merry celebration as they usher in the holiday season with the new Dickens of a Drive-Thru event!
On arrival at the main parking lot, Ohio History Connection staff will guide you to a waiting area where you will prepare for a drive through Ohio Village. At this time each registered car will be given one Dickens at-home activity kit, which includes 19th-century holiday crafts like Christmas cards and paper chains, as well as an information booklet with craft instructions, historical holiday recipes, 19th century Christmas traditions, and more.
After checking in you will be guided around to the Ohio Village Church so you can start driving through the village. A helpful Ohio Village resident will be driving an 1890s car to lead you throughout the town, where you will have a chance to see villagers preparing for the holidays. Ohio Village will be bustling with activity as people are out hanging greenery and decorations all over town, collecting food and goods for charity, and dancing out in the nice cool weather. If you are lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of some characters straight out of holiday literature and folklore! Ebenezer Scrooge and his old business partner Jacob Marley have been spotted out around town, as have been some of the ghosts that haunt the old miser. While on your trip through Ohio Village, you can tune into our Ohio History Radio channel and enjoy classic Christmas tunes from the Ohio Village Singers.
