A letter from HLC nurse, Rachel Haynes, to all HLC parents and caregivers.
DearParents andCaregivers,
As the Harold Lewis Center works to reopen, it is important for you to know that the health and safety of our students and staff are our highestpriority.It isalsoimportant to recognizethat some risk is present when students return to school.Due toCOVID-19, the Harold Lewis Center will be implementing new guidelinesin order toreopen.We will be following all recommendations and guidelines given to us by the Ohio Department of Health and the Ohio Department of Education.Recently, these entities released updated rules for Ohio licensed preschool programs. The detailed rules may be found here:5101:2-12-02.2.
Below are some of the important highlights we feel you need to be aware of:
-There will be no more than eightchildren in a preschool classroom
-All staff/employeesare required towash their hands upon entering a classroom and prior to leaving the facility each day.Frequent hand washing and use of hand sanitizer is encouraged throughout the day.
-All childrenare required towash their handsupon entering a classroom andprior to leaving school each day. Teachers will be teaching the importance of hand washing and will be encouraging hand washing and/orthe use ofhand sanitizer throughout the day.
-All employees and studentswillhave their temperature taken prior to or as soon as they arrive at school each day. Anyone with a temperature of 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit or higher should be kept at home or sent home until they are fever free without the help of fever reducing medications for a minimum of 24 hours.
-Any employee or student that has had known contact with someone confirmed or probable to have COVID-19, must notify the Harold Lewis Center nurse upon finding out. Prior to returning to the Harold Lewis Center, he or she must complete the isolation and quarantine procedures for COVID-19 in coordination with the Union County Health Department.
- If an employee or student tests positive for COVID-19, he or she must notify the Harold Lewis Center nurse immediately. Prior to returning to the Harold Lewis Center, he or she must complete the isolation and quarantine procedures for COVID-19 in coordination with the Union County Health Department.
-All staff/ employees and students must follow travel advisoryrecommendations accordingto the latest information from the state of Ohio.See the latest recommendationshere.
The health and safety of our staff and studentsareour highest priority. Please be considerate of others, especially our immune compromised population, when considering sending your child to school.Please contact the Harold Lewis Center nurse with any questions or concerns.
